O Scale trolley

This section covers overhead trolley poles for O scale traction modelling. The OT-P1 poles are intended for traditional interurban and streetcar designs, while the OT-P2 set is shaped for PCC cars with their distinctive streamlined base and swivel mount. Both are cast in lost-wax brass for durability. You will need to drill a small locating hole in the roof or bolster to seat the base, then secure with a drop of ACC or epoxy. The poles come with a spring detail that can be posed raised or lowered; gently bend the wire to set the height. They suit 1:48 scale models of North American prototypes, including Birney cars, Peter Witt cars, and early PCCs. File any flash from the base before fitting, and paint with a primer before your final colour to avoid bare metal showing through.

For the OT-P2 PCC poles, note that the swivel joint is functional—you can rotate the pole head to engage the overhead wire. When installing, align the base with the roof contour; some PCC models have a recessed pad, so check your kit. If the hole is too large, shim with styrene strip. The pole wire is soft brass and can be trimmed to length for different wire heights. These parts are equally suitable for brass or plastic bodies, but avoid over-tightening any screw mount as the casting is fine. For a weathered look, apply a dark wash after painting to pick out the hinge details. Both pole types include the necessary insulator details at the head, which should be painted a contrasting colour such as ceramic white or dark brown, depending on the era you are modelling.

This section also lists payment methods, but that is not part of the product range—it is a leftover from an old header. The actual items here are the two pole sets only. When preparing either set, clean the castings in warm soapy water to remove any release agent from the mould. Lost-wax brass takes solder well if you prefer a permanent joint, but for most installations, a mechanical fix with a small screw or pin is simpler. The poles are designed for O scale, but some modellers have used them on S scale with modification. For the OT-P1, the base is flat, so it suits flat-roofed cars; for arched roofs, file a matching curve. Always test-fit before gluing. These parts are a practical upgrade for kit or ready-to-run trolleys, giving a crisp, prototypical appearance.
